When dimensions increase, surrounding colors are blended to fill the larger grid. This can reduce blocky edges compared with simple pixel duplication, yet the result may still look soft.

Small defects become larger

Blur, camera shake, JPEG artifacts, and noise all become easier to see. Text and line art can suffer particularly obvious halos. A modest enlargement is usually safer than a dramatic one.

Start from the best source

Look for an original export, vector logo, or higher-resolution photograph before enlarging. Preview the new image at its intended size and avoid extra lossy saves. If the destination demands genuine new detail, specialized upscaling may be required.
