Convert Images to WebP for Faster Websites

Prepare the dimensions first

Do not simply wrap a 6000-pixel camera photo in a modern format. Resize near the largest display size, create responsive variants where useful, and then encode each as WebP.

Compare at equivalent visual quality

A smaller file is not an improvement if product labels blur or gradients break apart. Test several quality values and compare both appearance and bytes against the current JPG or PNG.

Update references carefully

After conversion, make sure HTML, CSS, content records, and preload declarations use the new filenames. Test real pages for missing images, transparency, and caching. Retain source assets so future exports do not begin from a compressed copy.
